Weirdness

I guess it's time to start embracing my weirdness. I've always felt a little different from others. My interest is often drawn to things that aren't "mainstream." I enjoy a good ghost story, find UFO sightings intriguing (and maybe a bit frightening), and have a tendency to appreciate the morbid. I guess I'm a weirdo.

Sometimes being weird gets a little lonely. Not everyone has the same passions, and finding the likeminded is difficult at times. When I want to fully dive head first into a rabbit hole, others choose to stay on the edges, playing it safe. Finding someone that wants to immerse themselves with the same level of intensity is difficult, if not impossible. I guess I'm seeking fellow weirdos.

Then there are the looks and the chuckles. Nothing makes a person feel more irrelevant than when others dismiss your excitement with a roll of their eyes or a look of condescension. These nonverbal cues can be disheartening, as they convey a message that your feelings, experiences, and interests are not worthy of consideration or respect. When someone responds to your enthusiasm with a scoff or a subtle smirk, it can make you question yourself. This can overshadow your joy, leaving you to question your place in a "normal" society. In these moments, the thrill of sharing something meaningful can quickly transform into a painful reminder of how easily excitement can be belittled, making it important to surround yourself with like minded people who appreciate and celebrate our passions rather than diminish them. I'm proud to be a weirdo.

So, here I am...admitting to my weirdness. I love it! There isn't much that scares me and I'll try just about anything once. Yes, I will sleep in a haunted hotel. Yes, I will wander into abandoned mines. Yes, I carry a digital voice recorder at all times and spend way to much money on ghost hunting equipment. Oh yeah, I also believe in Bigfoot, Mothman, and just about any other cryptid. I am a believer in all things weird. And yes, I am definitely a weirdo.
